Erotica Romance Author Breaking the Mold
As a mother of two who spends most of her time at ballgames, she may have been an unlikely candidate for writing erotica romance but this woman is breaking some records with securing contracts for her work. Destiny Blaine, is a published author with Mardi Gras Publishing and has successfully launched her career as an erotica romance author which only began in October of 2006.
Destiny Blaine writes non-fiction under another name and surprisingly has three titles due out in the early part of 2007. While she wonâ''t talk to me about those books since they are under another name, she will talk about her erotica romance series and what a list she has accumulated.
Erotica romance author Destiny Blaine began her career with short stories and seemingly canâ''t get away from them nor does she want to. Her list of writing credits, short stories, and novels are stacking up with several gaining a lot of attention.
Ms. Blaine has three series contracts with Mardi Gras Publishing. The first, is the controversial Seductive Mistress Series which is, just as it sounds, a series about an indiscreet affair. The characters will go through various trials and tribulations and whether you are for or against the mistress, youâ''ll love where this story line leads. After talking to Ms. Blaine about the various titles, I beckoned her to send me some excerpts and I must say; I am sold!
â'œBecoming a Mistressâ' has been released and is earning great reviews considering the subject matter. â'œLabeled a Mistressâ' is set for release February 17th with â'œBetrayal of a Mistressâ' scheduled to release sometime in April. These three titles are steamy, sexy, and push the envelope like no other short story in erotica romance. While I have only read bits of each, I must say the entire series is a must-read for women and some men (myself included) will enjoy them as well.
Blaineâ''s second series is entitled â'œThe Tellers: Triangles of Deceptionâ'. The series is a must-read for couples. I canâ''t praise it enough. Of course, if you like NFL football, you wonâ''t be able to resist this erotica short story. The series begins with A Christmas to Remember which has been described by reviewers as â'œsexy, laugh-out-loud funny, sassy, and above all else, well-writtenâ'. Once you read it, youâ''ll see why it appeals to men and women. The main character is a NFL superstar who brings sex appeal to the table for the women while football fans can enjoy so many elements of the tale.
Destinyâ''s third contracted series is entitled â'œThe Truth Chroniclesâ' and Book One of the Truth Chronicles is appropriately named â'œDefining Blissâ' which some say would have been part of an anthology if Blaine had not been determined to keep all of her fiction short stories with Mardi Gras Publishing. â'œDefining Blissâ' is controversial and a bit brash for my taste but let me explain further. I am a happily married man. This story wasnâ''t written for me but it was written for countless women who probably feel exactly like Blaineâ''s fictional character â'œRemyâ' who emerges in this tale. These women, are anything but happily married.
Defining Bliss is ballsy. Iâ''m not sure many authors could have pulled this one off like Blaine seems to be able to do. It is a true account of several women who share one voice (Remy) and it is one some men will find quite disturbing only because we like to think of our ladies in a different light. Blaine is going to ruin that image for some men while many women will rally around her and support the views of her fictional character.
What I like about Blaineâ''s Truth Chronicles is the fact she will be touching on some very controversial subjects in her series that will appeal to many different audiences. She admits that the series, particularly â'œDefining Blissâ' doesnâ''t fall under erotica romance but more into the category of mainstream fiction. I would second that observation but I would probably classify it as an erotica mainstream.
Destiny Blaine does write single titles too. Murder by Numbers has received high marks for being a short story with a solid plot and a cliff hanger that screams sequel. When I pressed her for information and asked her if a sequel loomed she didnâ''t offer any hints either way. I did read â'œMurder by Numbersâ' which is in my opinion, erotica reading at its finest with the element of mystery that I typically crave.
Blaineâ''s first novel is due out sometime soon too. Her Summer Neighbors title is an independent title that will win over many lovers of gentle romance. Still, donâ''t be fooled. Itâ''s hard core too. Iâ''m finding this is quite expected by the readers who search out Destiny Blaine titles. They want a well written story, which she delivers but they are searching for sex scenes and she is taking that to a whole new dimension. In fact, I dare to say that whatever she thinks, she simply writes.
The erotica romance genre is finding its place in the world of publishing with huge names in romance crossing over to take the plunge. Authors who once wrote behind closed doors sex scenes are becoming very graphic in how they show their readers more. Trust me on this one too, these writers do show instead of simply tell. Their words leave nothing to the imagination. Destiny Blaine stands out as a leader in the genre because of her ability to weave her sex scenes into great short stories, novellas, and novels.
Yes, Destiny Blaine broke the mold when she crossed over from writing in one more serious genre into erotica romance. She is setting the stage for bigger things and frankly, Iâ''m going to enjoy watching her. I think she is going to use the shock factor when appropriate to win a following of readers and when it isnâ''t appropriate, she may just do it anyway.
